Easy Homemade Restaurant-Style Salsa
This easy homemade restaurant-style salsa is my favorite right now! Once you try it, you will never buy store-bought salsa again.
It’s the quickest salsa recipe ever, it takes just 5 minutes to whip up and it’s so delicious, fresh and bursting with flavors. You just throw everything in the food processor, give a few pulses, and it’s done. Perfect salsa!
Serve it with tortilla chips or use it for tacos, burrito, quesadilla, enchiladas, etc. Everyone is going to love it!
Since this easy homemade restaurant-style salsa uses canned tomatoes, you don’t have to worry if tomatoes are not very tasty or ripe.
The recipe is easy to adjust to your own taste. Do you like chunky or smooth salsa? If you want it chunky, don’t puree it as much and drain the can of tomato before adding it to the food processor. If you like your salsa a bit more smooth and thin consistency, don’t drain the tomatoes. Also, you can make it spicy or mild according to your own preferences. Remove all the seeds and white membranes from the jalapeno for a mild salsa.
It will keep up to 5 days in an airtight container in the fridge.
Grab a bag of tortilla chips, a bowl of salsa and enjoy it!

Very easy and quick to prepare. Loved…loved…loved it !! Did I mention that I Loved It !! My family and I really enjoy snacking on chips and salsa and this definitely hit the spot. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Thank you for the feedback, Linda! So glad you loved this recipe :)
I did use fresh tomatos but used the recipe you put on here! Amazing we love it!
Thank you for the feedback, Phyllis! :)
I wanted to skip dinner and eat tortilla chips and salsa. But I wanted to make it from scratch. Three big, ripen tomatoes were begging to be used. The jalapenio was shrinking. I decided to act. Your recipe was just perfect. Instead of sugar, I substituted honey – just a dash of it. I had fresh curry leaves in the fridge. LOL, I am of Indian origin! I threw some curry leaves in the recipe. I also added a dash of ginger. I didn’t know lime also went in. Fortunately I had one.
It was just purrrrrfect! I made a meal of the chips. Now, I have a small bottle in the fridge for later use. I might give it to my neighbors who love anything spicy.
Thanks for the great recipe.
I love the idea of tortilla chips and salsa for dinner :D Thank you for your feedback, Ranga. Your version sounds delicious!
My favorite salsa recipe yet!!! I added a little extra garlic and lime, but that’s my preference! Delicious!
Thank you for the feedback, Michelle. I am so glad you liked it! :)
Our tomatoes are almost ripe and will be coming in my kitchen by the bucket full. This recipe is getting pinned for later. We love homemade salsa and this recipe looks great!
Thank you Diane! :)
Your salsa looks chunky-licious! Please pass on the chips! Pinned.
This looks amazing, I love how easy it is! No chopping!!
I love salsa and always order it when I eat in a Mexican restaurant! Nevertheless, it is not compared to a homemade version as this one! Looks delish!
Thank you Katerina!

This is a great salsa. I was at a Mexican restaurant over the weekend and we were trying to guess all the ingredients in the salsa. I will try your recipe. It looks so delicious.

It’s crazy how such simple ingredients can be turned into something so delicious!
You can’t beat homemade salsa. I always keep a can or two of tomatoes for “emergencies”, I’ll have to try the salsa w/ the canned tomatoes; I haven’t tried that yet.
Canned tomatoes are great for emergencies :)
I could eat that whole bowl of salsa on my own, it looks so good!!
Thank you Tara! :)
Oh man, is there anything better than chips and salsa? This looks great and I would just need to control myself not to eat the whole thing in one sitting!
Thank you Kelly! :)
Amazing and simple recipe. I love it. My mouth is on fire but it tastes so good I can’t stop eating it with my chips. Definitely a great snack for home gatherings and parties. Thank you very much!
I am so glad to hear that, Fred! :) Thank you for the feedback!
